The parade runs Saturday, November 14 at 9 a.m., rain or shine, and marks its 78th year, making it one of Ontario's longest-running Christmas parades (insauga). The route traditionally starts at Lakeshore Road East and Reynolds Street, heads west along Lakeshore to Kerr Street, then north to Stewart Street. Skip the parking hassle: in past years Oakville Transit has run a free Santa Shuttle from Oakville GO to Trafalgar Park Community Centre. Bring a non-perishable food item or new toy for local food banks.
Each of Oakville's three historic villages lights its own tree. Downtown Oakville's Light up the Night in Towne Square features carollers, hot cocoa, horse-drawn carriage rides and visits with Santa. Bronte lights its tree in Market Square. Kerr Village's tree lighting and holiday market is set for November 28 in Westwood Park.
One of Oakville's most-loved traditions transforms Coronation Park on Lakeshore Road West with more than 90 trees wrapped in 130,000 lights, plus light displays and laser shows. It is free and runs from early December into February. You will also find smaller holiday light displays at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, Centennial Park, George's Square, Towne Square and Westwood Park.
Oakville's outdoor rinks usually open mid-December and run to March, weather permitting. The refrigerated rink at Trafalgar Park Community Centre (133 Rebecca Street) is free, with skate and helmet rentals available. For snowshoeing, try the Halfmoon Valley, Ravine and Trillium trails at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
When is the Oakville Santa Claus Parade in 2026? Saturday, November 14, 2026, starting at 9 a.m. in Downtown Oakville.
Is Holiday Lights by the Lake free? Yes. The display at Coronation Park is free to visit on foot or by car.
Where can I skate outdoors in Oakville? Trafalgar Park and Wallace Park have refrigerated rinks, and more than 10 park rinks open when weather allows.
